Black Powder: Napoleonic Wars (1789-1815) – Napoleonic French Line Lancers brings one of Napoleons most striking and versatile cavalry units to your tabletop. Inspired by Polish light horsemen at the Battle of Wagram in 1809, who captured Austrian lances and used them effectively in battle, Napoleon quickly saw the potential of this weapon. He ordered the formation of nine lancer regiments, six dressed in green and three in blue, equipped with deadly nine-foot ash pole lances adorned with red and white pennants.
Unlike many other cavalry units, lancers could hold their own in battleline engagements against infantry and cavalry alike. However, they excelled in reconnaissance, raiding, and skirmishingparticularly in the brutal campaigns of Spain and Russia. Armed with a lance, sabre, and sometimes carbines or pistols, these cavalrymen were adaptable and dangerous across various combat scenarios.
This set includes 12 plastic French Line Lancers along with a metal officer, bugler, and an optional eagle bearer arm, allowing for customization.
